Kids Board Font for Web Design Projects

I was working on a redesign for a boutique online store that sells educational toys and creative kits for kids. The goal was to make the website feel playful, approachable, and visually engaging. One of the first decisions I made was choosing the right font for the hero section. That’s where Kids Board came into play.

Kids Board is a chunky, friendly display font with bold letterforms that immediately grab attention. It has a warm, handcrafted feel that makes it perfect for children-related content. The visual style is clean yet expressive, which helps balance fun with professionalism. It's not too childish, but it definitely conveys a sense of joy and creativity.

I tested it in the hero section, placing it over a bright, colorful background image of kids playing with building blocks. The contrast worked well, and the readability stayed strong even at larger sizes. What stood out was how the font didn’t feel overwhelming—it had just the right amount of weight and spacing to be legible without being too heavy.

When I moved to mobile previews, I noticed that Kids Board handled smaller screens well. The characters maintained their shape and clarity, which is important for responsive design. I also checked how it looked on dark backgrounds, and while it still worked, I found that pairing it with a light overlay or using a lighter variant improved the overall readability.

The font can be used in various areas of a website. For instance, in the header of a coaching website aimed at parents, it could add a touch of warmth and approachability. On a product landing page, it could serve as a headline for a kids’ art set or STEM kit. Even in a digital brand kit, Kids Board could be used for logo text or promotional banners.

One thing I learned early on was that Kids Board works best for short phrases, headlines, and decorative accents rather than long paragraphs. It’s a display font, so it’s more about making an impression than ensuring extended readability. That makes it ideal for call-to-action buttons, section headings, and hero titles, but not for body copy.

I paired it with a simple sans serif font like Montserrat for body text. This combination gave the site a polished look—playful yet professional. It helped maintain visual hierarchy, guiding users from the bold, eye-catching headlines down to the more straightforward, easy-to-read body content.

Another consideration was the font’s availability. I confirmed that Kids Board is available as a webfont, which means it loads quickly and works across different devices and browsers. It also supports multiple weights and alternates, giving me flexibility in how I used it throughout the site. Checking the commercial licensing was another step I took before finalizing the choice, especially since this was a client project.

For a course sales page targeting parents interested in creative learning, Kids Board added personality to the title and subheadings. It helped reinforce the brand’s identity as something fun and inspiring. In a blog redesign focused on parenting tips, it could be used for headers or featured posts to create a consistent and engaging visual tone.

When designing for small buttons or interactive elements, I made sure to keep the font size manageable. While Kids Board looks great in large formats, it needs enough space to breathe on smaller elements. I also avoided using it on dark backgrounds without sufficient contrast, which could affect user experience.

Overall, Kids Board proved to be a versatile and effective choice for the boutique toy store project. It helped create a cohesive visual identity that aligned with the brand’s values. Whether you're designing a portfolio site, a campaign landing page, or a small business website, this font can add a unique flair that stands out in the digital landscape.

If you're looking for a display font that brings energy and character to your designs, Kids Board is worth testing. It offers a modern typography solution that feels both fresh and familiar. Just remember to use it thoughtfully—pair it with complementary fonts, ensure readability across all screen sizes, and always consider how it contributes to your brand’s overall message and user experience.
